Motorbikes have always parked without problems

AFTER reading the article regarding motorcycle parking I was concerned to see that one person can suddenly impose parking restrictions.

Motorcycles have parked in Graham Gardens long before the hairdressers was there. I used to park there when Christie’s paint shop was open in the location.

The explanation, that they are protecting their customers, seems weak, as once you are outside the shop it’s the person who causes the injury, by whatever means, bicycle, motorcycle, mobility scooter or someone running, who would be responsible.

Surely signs left in the middle of the footway are just as dangerous. On any windy day in Lisburn you can see large signs which have been blown over causing a hazard.

I remember many years ago there was a clamp down on signs on the footpaths, most were removed at the threat of prosecution, why not now?

I also think until other suitable central motorcycle parking is offered motorcycles should continue to park in a responsible manner at the site at Graham Gardens.
