New parking provision for Grange estate

South Antrim MP William McCrea has welcomed confirmation that a scheme to deliver additional car parking provision in the Grange estate, Ballyclare could be on the ground as early as next month.

Dr McCrea said creation of the new parking spaces would be of great benefit to local residents, particularly senior citizens and those with disabilities.

“A number of residents of the Grange estate have raised the issue of additional car parking spaces at Grahamstown with both Paul Girvan MLA and myself. This is a matter that we have taken up on their behalf with the Minister for Social Development, Mervyn Storey. The Minister has confirmed that a project is being progressed by the NI Housing Executive that will provide 30 car parking spaces at Grahamstown outside the bungalows. Work is scheduled to commence in December 2014,” the DUP man explained.

“As the bungalows in Grahamstown are predominantly occupied by senior citizens and people with disabilities, this new provision should help to improve access to their dwellings. It will also allow access for the emergency services and help to accommodate the delivery of home heating oil which has proved somewhat problematic in the past.

“I welcome this positive initiative by the NIHE and trust that local residents will derive benefit from it.”
