The opening times at Newtownabbey Police Station’s enquiry office were reduced at the end of last year, but the District Commander has said he can’t guarantee that there won’t be further changes in the future.

“We have to look at the most cost effective use of money and resources and to make the best use of police staff time,” he commented.

“I understand this is an emotive issue for the public, but we have to look at the best use of resources.”

Supt. Clark said that the situation would be “kept under review” and stressed that there are other ways for the public to engage with police “other than coming to a building”, including by phone and online reporting.
