A lot of preparation went into the day, pupils from both schools completed questionnaires and it was emphasised that as well as learning new things about science they were also learning to work alongside other pupils.

Staff thoroughly enjoyed joining in with the pupils and were impressed by how well year 8 pupils worked with their P7 peers. They were all kind and considerate, helping the P7’s find their way around and encouraging them about the move to “big school”.

Pupils participated in a variety of tasks; digging and setting pitfall traps was a favourite with the pupils who all enjoyed learning new skills in the fresh outdoors.

Feedback from pupils was extremely positive, John O’Neill stated, “It was interesting. It was exciting. I got to meet new people and enjoyed finding out about bugs.”
