Plantation Road needs traffic calming measures

We want to add our full support for the proposal to place speed ramps on Plantation Road. We are residents of Plantation Road with young children - those objecting to the proposal most likely no longer have young children in their household and therefore the realities of safety on this road may not be as great a concern to them on a daily basis.

We have been amazed by those who do not support the putting in place of measures which will make our road safer.

Speeding on this road is clearly happening and we need a solution.

The Roads Service clearly feels there is a problem and supports the placing of ramps - surely we don’t want to wait until there is a serious accident before implementing change.

Reasons for objecting to the traffic calming measures such as devaluation of property is far fetched and scaremongering.

Also, all children are aware of “Stop, Look, Listen” from an early age but this does not stop them impulsively running out onto the road after a ball. Some have suggested a greater police presence will help- do we really think this will be possible in current financial climate?

There will be much less cost to the taxpayer in the long term by making this road safer with speed ramps rather than extra policing or the hospital costs or an injured person - adult or child.
