Praise for summer parking scheme

Recently we seem to have heard nothing but bad news about the state of the economy and the closure of shops and businesses.

I’m not suggesting for one moment that providing some free parking is going to solve all, or even any, of those problems. But at least it’s an attempt to deal with one of the bugbears people constantly mention when they say they don’t shop in the city centre.

If we in Lisburn don’t come up with ideas ourselves to reverse the decline in the city the only thing we can say with certainty is that nobody else will. We have plenty of councillors, MLAs and a very able MP. Surely between them they could come up with more schemes like this.
