£3.5 million available for projects

DISCUSSIONS took place last night at Limavady Borough Council over what to do with £3.5 million worth of funding that has become available.

TUV councillor Boyd Douglas presented a motion to the Council Chamber last night, calling for an assessment of the need throughout the Limavady Borough for ‘capital spend projects’.

He also asked for the council to rate the need according to social deprivation.

The motion presented by Councillor Douglas read: “In light of the Treasury Management Mid-Year Review, presented by the Head of Finance, it was stated that the £3.54m set aside for the landfill and other associated costs was now free for capital spend projects. Therefore, we proposed that this Council should commence a Borough wide consultation to find out the following: Assess the need throughout the Borough for capital spend projects; Rate this need within the Borough according to social deprivation and other key measures.”
