Police Constable Brian Herron was the quizmaster and he was assisted by members of the committee.

Mayor Thomas Hogg was welcomed to the event by Chair of the Road Safety Committee, Mrs Pat Martin.

Addressing the children, Alderman Hogg stressed the importance of the road safety message and presented medals to the top three teams.

Nichola Pearse of Cornmarket Insurance Services (formerly Adelaide Insurance Services) presented the Adelaide Cup - a perpetual trophy - to the winning team.

Mrs Martin praised all the pupils who took part in the quiz and thanked Alderman Hogg and the council for giving the committee free use of the facilities at Mossley Mill and providing goody bags for each of the children.

She went on to thank Newtownabbey Borough Council for its continuing financial support and Cornmarket Insurance Services for providing the trophy.

Newtownabbey Road Safety Committee is a voluntary organisation which aims to promote road safety in the borough. Membership is open to all residents and any issues of concern in relation to road safety matters can be raised with the committee.
