Reasonable citizens will welcome UDR memorial
WITH reference to Paul Butler’s vitriolic attack on the Ulster Defence Regiment and his opposition to the proposed statue, it would appear that he is only in favour of an equality impact assessment when it is held in his favour. He then adds deeply offensive and degrading comments about the UDR.
Any reasonable citizen in the Lisburn Council area and beyond will welcome this statue and the fact it is being positioned in Market Square is the correct decision.
It should be remembered that the UDR were protecting the community and not murdering them as others were.
While this statue is very welcome in the Spring, it should have been erected in Lisburn some time ago.
