Russell on song at Gracehill

THE competition on Saturday, March 13 at Gracehill Golf Club, was contested by a large number of golfers who turned out and enjoyed the fine Spring conditions.

Division1 saw a very close finish with only one point separating 1st from fourth place . Tuck Young (15) had the all important better back six to take the big prize.

Tuck and Tom Sloan had both recorded 21 points going out and eighteen after the turn .It was therefore down to calculating who played better from the 13th hole to home and Tuck came out on top .

Only one point back , it was Ian Morrison (5) who, due to his 20 point back nine took third place from D.Steen(11) who carded 19 points on the nines, front and back.Robert McNeill (3) won the gross prize with 34 .In Division 2 it was again a close affair with Russell McKessick bringing home the bacon with a 22 point front nine and an all important 19 back nine one better than Joe Sloan who had a fantastic 23 points going out. William McQuiston took third with 38 points one ahead of Harry Spence in fourth.

Thirteen players got their birdies and shared the two's kitty they were S. Barr, R. Brown, D.

Church (2), T. Edgar, J. Gillan, J. Graham, M. McConaghie, C McNeill, T. Milliken, C. Moore, I. Morrison, B. Napier and J. Sloan .Thomas Sloan continued his good run of form with a 39 point tally same as Victor Armstrong but with a two point back nine superiority .

In third, and, as the day before, Gross Prize winner was Robert McNeill on 38 points. Division 2 saw Darren Simpson come out on top with 20 front and back nine totals to win by one from Gilmore Harkness.
