Stop this charade and start securing the future of families - Wright

SIR, As I predicted months ago in a letter to your paper, the so-called enemies of each other have done a deal.

Well there is a surprise (I don't think so).

The Shinners have played chess and when they announced that their talking was finished what they meant was they had checkmate against the DUPed Ulster people party (d.u.p).

I ask myself why 14 people on the Monday were against proposals then a few days later change their minds. After months of discussion what was put on the table for said 14 to suddenly change their minds? We smell political treachery in our midst.

Watching Sammy Wilson on the Politics Show had my wife and myself laughing in our cups of tea. Sir Reg made him look bad as he stuttered to answer questions put to him. That is a few weeks in a row Sammy has appeared on the show. Why does no one else come on? As for speaking, Gerry Kelly far outshines any one the DUP put forward.

The DUP says it is best deal for unionists in Ulster. I won't hold my breath. As for the parading issue the nationalist residents have stopped us thus far walking the Queen's highway and I can't see them suddenly saying 'OK boys tear away and walk Garvaghy/Dunloy etc without a protest.'

To get down to nitty gritty, my main concern for our elected people is for them to try and secure that manufacturing in this country is not let go down the river.

The industry I work in and am a union rep is facing severe problems with our customers having no money to buy our premium product. We need help from any agency in Stormont/Westminster and Dublin. Yes I said Dublin.

The Good Friday agreement (which I opposed) was meant to help and secure that all money that could be spent on the island as a whole was done to secure employment .

I, along with Peter Bunting of the ICTU and other union reps, have sent letters to London and Dublin asking for help. The help should start at Stormont. So stop this charade and concentrate on securing my union members and their families future NOW

Yours etc.,

Jim Wright
