Thanks for support of Wings Appeal

At a time when we remember those who made the supreme sacrifice in two world wars and in subsequent conflicts since, we ask you to support the national Poppy Appeal, and it is on that theme I wish to pay thanks to the generosity of the local community for their support in the Battle of Britain Wings Appeal this year.

The Northern Ireland Area Wings Appeal total stands at over £115,000 with still more donations coming in, to which the Larne branch contributed a generous total of £7,802.

My sincere thanks must go to William McIlroy for the use of his vacant shop in Dunluce Street, also to 18 Lyons and Osborne King for the use of a unit in Murrayfield Shopping Centre as the focal points for the local appeal and to those who worked in and contributed to the shop.

The business community, churches and schools all followed the lead of our Mayor, Councillor Geraldine Mulvenna, who launched the appeal on September 3.

The welfare work of the Royal Air Forces Association continues and the need for new members is essential to continue in fulfilling the aims of the Association to help those who are in need.

Thank you again for your support.

JH Kirkpatrick MBE,

Chairman,

Larne Branch,

Royal Air Forces Association.
