Thanks to those who helped after flooding

FOLLOWING the severe weather last Wednesday, the sewerage system in Glenwood Court became blocked. This then caused effluent to redirect through my property causing severe sewage spillage throughout and spreading into four other neighbouring properties.

The DOE was contacted on Thursday, via their `Call Centre’. The problem was reported and a reference given. My other neighbours did likewise.

The response from the `Call Centre’ to myself and my neighbours certainly lacked Customer Service and it was blatantly obvious that the Emergency Response System is inadequate and seriously needs reviewed given the lack of information given to myself and my neighbours.

We were forced to contact the following local representatives: the Mayor Mr. William Leathem and Mr. Paul Givan.

Mr. Leathem was in France on Council business and was informed by one of my neighbours, who was not affected, but was aware of my situation.

Mr. Leathem responded quickly by contacting Mr. Givan, the DOE and the Environmental Health Department. Things then started to move, we then got a response and a vehicle was despatched from Craigavon to deal with the problem,

I would sincerely like to thank Mr Leathem, Mr. Givan, Mr. Donal McLaughlin and Glenvale Waste through your paper. It was only with the help of the aforementioned that the situation was resolved.
