Upgrade for Antrim Hills Way

Larne Borough Council has pledged to continue managing and maintaining the Antrim Hills Way.

The trail is a 22-mile walking route, mostly across private farmland, which links Glenarm with Slemish.

The walk forms part of the Ulster Way and the International Appalachian Trail.

The Department of the Environment has agreed to provide funding to the tune of £11,709 to allow the local authority to carry out an upgrade to the walking route.

The conditions for the funding stipulate that the work must be completed by March 23, 2015, and that the council expresses its desire to manage and maintain the trail following the upgrade.
