Volunteers needed for ‘Dementia Cafe’

Volunteers are being sought for a new ‘Dementia Cafe’ initiative that is due to launch in the Rathcoole estate from September.

The cafe for vulnerable adults and their carers will run at Inniscoole Day Centre on a monthly basis, with the opening night scheduled for Wednesday, September 23, 6pm - 9pm.

Dementia Cafes provide a safe and comfortable environment for people with dementia and their carers to socialise and access support and advice.

People aged 16 years and over are being invited to volunteer at the cafe.

Organisers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who would like to gain experience in a caring role, or those who need experience for a job in the care sector.

No experience is necessary and all volunteers will receive full training from the Alzheimer’s Society.
