What happens to our Main Street? Reader

SIR - Tesco coming to Ballycastle has been a topic of discussion for sometime now and I would like to offer a few observations.

If Tesco gets their site what becomes of our Main Street trade?

Ballycastle should be a ‘tourist town’, who wants to some to a town without a Main Street? The Main Street of many Irish seaside resorts is always the centre of a town’s attraction.

What tourist wants to walk around the corporate identity of Tesco to sample local life in Ballycastle - none!

I am also concerned that Cllr Blaney, and the wee woman, and the taxi drivers may have missed the point about Tesco and its long term impact on this town - but then what would I know or care?

Maybe Cllr Blaney and ‘his people’, all 100 of them, don’t care about community just ‘cheap consumables’ and taxi fares - well if so that’s a shame.

Yours D Watson, Ballycastle resident
