Where did the extra money for policing go?

I RECEIVED a leaflet from the DUP seeking signatures for a petition regarding a ‘save our police stations’ campaign which on reflection I found quite confusing.

Yes, initially on the face of it the closing of yet more police stations following on from having 30 plus demolished between 1999 and 2007 is shocking and a further retrograde step for overall policing confidence in general and community policing in particular.

However, was it not the same DUP who, on endorsing the Hillsborough Agreement, informed us that their negotiating team had secured £800 millions for policing and justice? The question is where and what was this money used for a mere two years hence?

I would also question why the DUP councillors and elected MLAs have not moved on a petition regarding the wanton waste of tens of millions of pounds on a so called Conflict Resolution Centre to complement the Maze H blocks? Especially when their deputy leader Nigel Dodds MP stated the retention of the H blocks would be ‘a shrine to terrorists no matter what way it’s dressed up’

Obviously there are conflicting priorities at play.
