Who speaks for the trees?

THE trees. The trees. Who speaks for the trees.

This matter has been reported to the DUP office in Lisburn City. Nothing has been done about it but the trees are a part of our environment and there are people in our community who enjoy them. They also provide shelter for bird life in our parks.

When one talks to the older generation of people in our village, one finds them relating to the time period when Dunmurry was a wooded area. Sadly due to development, a lot of the trees have been cut down, but we still have a few.

One area at present is under attack. This section lies between the RFD factory and Seymour Hill Estate. There appears to be a situation where people are going in with vehicles and cutting down trees.

This is a beautiful glen and a pleasant walk for people in the community. Would someone in authority tackle this problem. Look at people living in luxury villas. They should not buy them if they cannot afford to heat them and have to resort in destroying the environment.

Dunmurry resident.
