Why no Italian flags on Carrick route for Giro?

It was good of the loyalists of Carrickfergus to erect Union flags and Northern Ireland flags along part of the Giro route, obviously to welcome all the cyclists to Carrickfergus.

However, surely they could also have erected a few Italian flags as well, although the Italian flag is probably too similar to the Irish flag for some of them.

I wonder what the loyalists will do with all their Union flags once the blue is removed when the people of Scotland vote for independence in September,
