Why were school problems not seen?

THE current plight facing controlled secondary schools in the Lisburn area alone, in failing to provide adequate education as found by government inspectors, has left my wife and myself very concerned about our children’s educational future.

It also has us asking ‘What have the Boards of Governors been doing to allow this failure to arise in schools?’

Much blame has been attributed to other functions and individuals in the educational world, surely the time has come to ask about the role of people appointed to Boards of Governors and ask ‘How did they not have early warning signs of a school not performing?’
