Orange leaders are praised for work on trouble-free parade

The leadership of the Orange Order in Londonderry has been praised by DUP man William Hay, for its work to produce a trouble-free Twelfth.

Mr Hay acknowledged the work that had gone into the Flagship parade for the past 18 months to two years: “The strategy and processes employed involved talking to whoever we needed to talk to, to make sure we were communicating with people, engaging with people and most of all keeping lines of communication open.

“The strategy and process template we have here is working, but you can never say you are finished working,” he said, congratulating everyone in the Londonderry Chamber of Commerce for their work.

“This process is working extremely well and I would like to congratulate the leadership of the Orange Order in the City, James Hetherington and Maurice Devenney, and others, for showing the leadership that ensured that the parade passed off so peacefully,” he said.
