The Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland facilitating the roadshow venture to showcase various aspects of the Orange Institution and its work.

The roadshow is open to all and has already visited numerous venues across the Province, as well as Scotland. It will roll into Newbuildings Community Centre on Friday, October 24, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Those who visit will learn about plans to develop new Orange interpretative centres at Belfast, and Loughgall, which open next year. Information will also be available on the Orange Standard newspaper, Orange charities, the STRIPE Project, Orange Community Network and the Junior Orange Association of Ireland.

Orange Order Director of Services, Dr David Hume, said: “The roadshows are intended to inform as widely as possible about the work carried out by the Orange Institution in a variety of fields. We have development workers covering much of Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic, for example, publish a monthly newspaper, operate bursaries for students and also have an ambitious outreach programme to highlight the unique artefacts which are held by the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland.

“The Grand Lodge also has a strong marketing presence through its webshop and products for sale to the general public, and we employ 20 staff who work in a variety of fields, so we are not just an organisation that appears once a year on the Twelfth of July and that’s us for another year. These roadshows are intended to let people know much more about our work, to encourage anyone who is interested in joining the organisation and to generally inform.”

Refreshments will be available.
