Organised Crime Branch searches in Portstewart

Detectives from Organised Crime Branch have charged a 47-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, who were arrested in Ballymena on Thursday, August 21, as part of an investigation into counterfeit car products, with counterfeiting and trademark offences and money laundering.

The Officer leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Todd Clements, said: “This proactive investigation was launched after a complaint by car manufacturer BMW.

“Following a number of searches on Thursday in Ballymena, Belfast and Portstewart. Police have secured restraining orders on assets worth more than £1 million.”

The man and woman are due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 11 September.
