Our girls have Specs appeal!

THREE local beauties have been selected out of thousands of entries to participate in the regional final of Specsavers annual Spectacle Wearer of The Year competition.

Chloe Quinn, Teasheagh Drummond and Tiffany Faulkner, are three of 12 finalists selected to take part in the regional final in Connswater Shopping Centre on Wednesday.

If successful, one of the girls could find themselves strutting down the catwalk at the glitzy, star-studded grand final in London this coming October. Specsavers’ style ambassador, Gok Wan will present the awards, with contestants being judged by a panel of industry experts.

Chloe Quinn, a 20-year-old local girl, who works part time for a real estate agency, is absolutely delighted to have made it this far. ‘I have been wearing glasses for about four years now, and I have followed the competition for a while.

“I finally plucked up the courage to enter this year but never expected to get this far! It’s great to see a competition like this attracting so much attention as it helps to highlight how beautiful glasses can be.’

Joining Chloe in the regional final is Teasheagh Drummond, 26-year-old trainee nail technician from Portrush.

“When I found out I had been selected to participate in the regional final I couldn’t believe it!

“I am absolutely over the moon! I haven’t been wearing glasses for very long but I absolutely love them! I love the idea that the competition searches for ‘specs appeal’ and I think it is sending a great message to glasses-wearers all over the UK.”

The third local beauty to be selected for participation in the regional final, is Tiffany May Faulker, a 22-year-old from Coleraine. “It is such an honour to be selected to take part in the regional final.

“I am sure there were so many deserving finalists so I am completely overwhelmed at the idea that I am one of them! It would be fantastic to go to London to represent Northern Ireland in the final, but for now, I am delighted to have made it this far!’

Chloe, Teasheagh or Tiffany could follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Greg Munday, a student from Newtownards, who represented Northern Ireland in last year’s glitzy grand final in London.

Greg, who is currently studying economics, says: ‘The experience last year was amazing, once in a lifetime, and I felt incredibly lucky to take part. The competition was tough but everyone was great and looked amazing. I can’t believe that I came third. I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.’

Regional stars will earn a place on the catwalk at Britain’s biggest spectacle fashion-fest, with the winner receiving a one year modeling contract with MOT Models, a two week premier, all-inclusive holiday for two in Barbados courtesy of Almond Resorts and Virgin Holidays with £250 worth of spending money, a makeover with (and products by) TV celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton, a year’s supply of skincare products from Simple, a fantastic goody bag including hair and skincare products, a £150 Specsavers designer eye care voucher and the coveted Spectacle Wearer of the Year trophy.

Now in their fifth year of supporting Kidscape, Specsavers will donate £1 for every eligible competition entry to the charity, as well as all proceeds from a high profile auction led by Specsavers ambassador Gok Wan, which will take place at the competition final in London in October.
