OUR LITTLE MIRACLE

He weighed just 14 ounces when he was born 25 weeks into his mother’s pregnancy.

Callum was given the slimmest of chances of survival, but battled against the odds to make it into his mum and dad’s arms.

He is Ireland’s smallest surviving baby and his proud parents, Nicola and Shane, who themselves were struck down with swine flu during Callum’s battle for life, are counting every ‘first’ they have with their amazing son.

The Lurgan couple were told to expect the worst given Callum’s size at birth, but their baby wasn’t for giving up without a fight.

Callum defied the odds and his mother also fought back from a critical condition in order to be reunited with her baby.

Nicola told the ‘MAIL’ of her Christmas miracle: “Christmas Day was the first day we got to touch him,” she said.

“He was a week old. We put our hands in the incubator and changed his nappy. You only needed one finger and thumb to do it. It was a Christmas present we’ll never forget.”
