‘Outstanding’ report for Pond Park Nursery

POND Park Nursery School is starting off a new school year having received an Inspection Report which deemed the quality of education provided by the nursery school to be ‘outstanding’.

In the report, the first since Principal Mrs Lois Wilson was appointed three years ago, inspectors said that the school delivered ‘outstanding’ opportunities for learning in all areas of the pre-school curriculum. Inspectors also commented that the quality of pastoral care was outstanding.

Celebrating the success of the report, Principal Mrs Lois Wilson said: “All of the staff, Governors and parents are thrilled with the ‘outstanding’ report following an inspection by ETI.”

Mrs Wilson went on to say that she believed the report to be a very positive affirmation of the day to day practice at Pond Park Nursery School. She praised the interest and commitment of the Governors and in particular thanked Chair of Governors Mr Geoffrey Cherry for his personal support. Mrs Wilson was delighted that the report praised the professional skill and expertise of the highly effective staff team and the effective approaches used when working with children with additional learning needs.

Among the significant strengths of the provision at Pond Park Nursery School is the commitment of the nursery school staff to working in partnership with parents and the welcoming and child friendly environments. The well motivated, settled and well behaved children were said to have positive attitudes to learning both indoors and outdoors. Outstanding attention is given to promoting healthy eating and physical activity and there are outstanding opportunities to play outdoors.

Inspectors also remarked that ‘The principal provides outstanding leadership of the nursery school. She is an outstanding practitioner and is highly committed to providing quality nursery school education for the children and families of the community.’

Other strengths of the school include: The inclusive ethos which develops the children’s confidence and fosters positive attitudes and dispositions to their learning;The very good links with parents, including the development of cross community links; The very good and outstanding quality of the staff interaction in developing the children’s learning.

Mrs Wilson wishes to thank the parents, Governors and wider community for their support and continued interest in the life of the nursery school. The school, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy to young children’s learning considers the provision of quality education to be an ongoing journey of reflection, celebration of success and commitment to improvement in order to provide the best learning environment for each child that belongs to the school.
