Over 30 schools to be affected by strikes

Over 30 schools in Newtownabbey are set to be affected by proposed strikes.

The NASUWT, the largest teachers’ union in Northern Ireland, has today announced the schools which will be involved in the first wave of the planned programme of rolling strikes which will take place this month.

A number of nursery, primary, secondary and special schools are set to be affected by the proposed strikes.

The nursery schools in Newtownabbey which will be affected are; Ashgrove Nursery School, Ballyhenry Nursery School, Monkstown Nursery School, Mossley Nursery School and St Mary’s Nursery School.

The primary schools which are set to be affected are; Abbots Cross Primary School, Ashgrove Primary School, Ballyhenry Primary School, Carnmoney Primary School, Earlview Primary School, Gaelscoil Eanna, Glengormley Integrated Primary School, Hazelwood Primary School, Hollybank Primary School, King’s Park Primary School, Mallusk Controlled Integrated Primary, Mossgrove Primary School, Mossley Primary School, Rathcoole Primary School, St Bernard’s Primary School, St James’ Primary School and Nursery Unit, St Macnissi’s Primary School, St Mary’s on the Hill Primary School, Whiteabbey Primary School and Whitehouse Primary School.

The affected secondary schools are; Belfast High School, Abbey Community College, Edmund Rice College, Glengormley High School and Hazelwood College.

The special schools which are set to be affected are; Hill Croft Special School, Jordanstown Special School, Rosstulla Special School and Thornfield House School.

The Newtownabbey Educational Guidance Centre is also expected to be affected by the proposed strike action.
