Over 400 new jobs in local council area

During 2014/15, 427 new jobs were promoted by businesses in Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area with Invest Northern Ireland support.

The new jobs will be created over the next few years and are the result of almost £21 million of investment by companies in the area.

To help secure this investment and enable businesses to bring forward their growth plans, Invest NI offered over £5 million of support to businesses in the area.

Mark Bleakney, Invest NI’s Southern Regional Manager, said: “2014-15 was another record breaking year for Invest NI and these results demonstrate the positive impact our performance is having on businesses in the Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council area.

“Through working in partnership with local firms we have helped support them to expand, look to new markets, invest in skills training for their staff and undertake R&D to remain ahead of the competition.

“Smiley Monroe and Client Analysis and Relationship Development (CARD) are just two of the local businesses we have helped to support their plans to expand in the region,” he added.

“In addition to helping secure 427 new jobs as part of future projects.

“Invest NI support has also resulted in 504 new jobs actually created in Lisburn and Castlereagh during 2014/15.

“As well as this strong in-year performance, across the four years of this Programme for Government,

“we have helped leverage £89 million of investment in the local economy and supported projects which will create 1,443 new jobs in the area.”
