Over half of A-Level results ‘in top range’ at Ulidia

Over half of A-Level results at Ulidia Integrated College are in the top range of A* to A, principal Eugene Martin has said.

Some 98 percent of students who picked up results last week attained three or more A-Levels or equivalent, while almost 90 percent gained a minimum of one A* or A.

“I am pleased to note that 80 percent of our students gained three or more A*-C grades, and 97 percent of students who have studied with us as part of the Carrickfergus Learning Community gained A* to C,” added Mr Martin.

Celebrating academic success were Danielle Cleary, whose two A* and two C grades earned her a place to study Biomedical Engineering at Jordanstown, and Andrew Wallace, who will study Sport Theory and Practice at Jordanstown after achieving two A* grades and one A.

Justin Haughey picked up a trio of A grades in Double Sports Studies and ICT, while Hanna Nadjai achieved an A*, an A and one B in ICT, Travel and Tourism, and Moving Image Arts.

Niamh McNally secured a place on a nursing course with an A in ICT, an A* in Travel and Tourism, and a B in Health and Social Care, while Lauren Small was celebrating grades of an A*, B and C. “I’m going to do a placement for a year at a nursing home in Larne and then I hope to go on to study adult nursing,” Lauren said.

At AS-Level, head prefect Thomas Adams was on course for success next year with a B and C grade in Double Applied Science.
