Over £19k is raised for Poppy Appeal

The Poppy sellers supper and award night was held in the Royal British Legion hall in Ballymoney recently.

This is an annual event held to thank the poppy collectors for the work they do each November.

The event was attended by at least 30 collectors plus eight army cadets from the Ballymoney attachment who are affiliated to the Ballymoney RBL branch.

A presentation was made to the Ballymoney branch by Mervyn Forsythe of a snare drum which he was presented with after his service ended.

Also Jenny Morrow presented a cheque for £215 for the Poppy Appeal. The President of Ballymoney RBL John Pinkerton gave a talk on how the money is used.

The total amount of money collected in Ballymoney last year was £19,085.58.

Mr Pinkerton thanked everyone on behalf of Poppy Organiser for Ballymoney, Sue Pinkerton, for the work done in the past year.
