Over £3,500 raised at Crossifre Gala

CHILDREN in Crossfire Fundraising Gala took place on Saturday 13th February, the purpose of this night was to help raised fund for CIC projects in Ethiopia and Tanzania.

The event organised by Dara & Niamh hArtghaile and family, took place in the Marine Hotel Ballycastle and was a huge success.

Prior to the night Dara had hoped that it would be possible to raise 2,000 from tickets, donations and raffle money but raising an extra 1,500 was 'extremely surprising'.

Dara explained: "I was extremely surprised, not only with meeting my target but also by surpassing it. The Children in Crossfire coordinator Sarah Gallagher commented on the generosity of the Ballycastle community as a sign of peoples community spirit."

Over the Christmas period Dara organised two events, a local music night in the Harbour Bar and a TV & Film Quiz night in the Marine Hotel Front Bar.

The total raised for Children in Crossfire is now just over 5,100.

Dara added: "I am in total awe, I was set a goal of 3,850 and we nearly raised this in one night, I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for everyones support, this is a fantastic sign of the generosity of a small town

"Without the help of many people/organisations tonights fundraising Dinner would not have been so successful. I would like to take this time to thank everyone who attended to Gala or made a donation I wish I had a greater way to show my gratitude for all your help and I ensure you that it will help make a difference to children in third world countries.

"I would also like to thank Moyle Music Collective, The Sweet Beats and DJ Unjust for providing us with great music all night. A number of Raffle prizes were donated and I would like to thank: Premier Inn Waring Street Belfast, Clarins Paris Company(Belfast), Bob Kane Communications, Ciaran Campbell Solicitors Ballycastle, Harbour Bar, JW Promotions, Mc Caughans Chemist, Maximuscle, Ballymena, Downey Cycles Dromore, Indigo and PC Electrics.

"A large number of people had prior commitments for the night /weekend and gave very generous donations helping to boost our total. Our event would not have been such a success if not for the venue and staff of the Marine Hotel. Head Chef William & Liam created a beautiful menu and the staff helped with layout and planning our event.

"I would also like to thank Impact Printing to helping me with designing and printing the excellent table cards and posters for my events.

"My final event before heading off to Vietnam in April is this Friday in Cross & Passion College, where Ms.Una Kelly has organised teachers and students to carry out an all day cycle to raise further funds and awareness of Children in Crossfire."
