Overtook on chevrons

A Lurgan man who overtook on chevrons and between traffic islands was fined £150 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention.

Andrew Magee (22), Kilvergan Road, Lurgan, also received five penalty points and was ordered to pay a £14 offender’s levy.

For not displaying an ‘R’ plate he was fined £60.

The court heard that on January 23 this year police on patrol on the Lough Road, Lurgan, saw the defendant who was driving two cars in front of them.

There was heavy traffic in both directions and Magee overtook a vehicle on the chevrons and between two traffic islands. A solicitor for the defendant said he believed the car in front was going to pull in and stop but then it sped away.
