Painting for pleasure

WELL-KNOWN local artist Maire Mullan is to deliver a series of art-classes-for-all at Derry's Beech Hill Country House Hotel.

Next month she will launch the first of her 'Painting for Pleasure' days for groups of around a dozen enthusiasts.

Maire says she is looking for a mix of talents, from absolute novices to men and women who have been painting for some time and who wish to polish up their technique or experiment with new materials. And she says she can guarantee that even absolute beginners will, at the end of the day, go away with a picture they will be pleased to put on display at home.

"These will be highly sociable days on which like-minded people get together, paint, talk about painting and enjoy themselves. The hotel will serve coffee and scones in the morning, a two-course lunch and afternoon tea. Even if you have never lifted a paint brush before, come along and give it a go. You can use water colours, oils or any other medium you like."

The first of the 'Painting for Pleasure' days will take place at Beech Hill on Tuesday, November 9.

Anyone who is interested should contact the hotel on 028 7134 9279.
