Pair in court after Larne violence

Two men aged 24 and 30 are expected to appear in Ballymena Magistrates Court today charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon over an incident in Larne on Saturday.

Police believe the incident was linked to the violence which took place in Larne on Sunday evening, when a crowd of up to 100 people gathered in the town and attacked police, residents and homes in Ferris Avenue and Knockdhu Park. One man was seriously injured and a police officer suffered an eye wound.

The south-east Antrim UDA has been blamed for the attacks.
