Paisley tops expenses chart

Ian Paisley, MP for North Antrim, has topped the expenses bill at Westminster.

He racked up a total of £100,204 in business costs and expenses last year.

His accommodation bill was almost £25,000 and he claimed over £45,000 in travel costs.

The figures are revealed in the annual report by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA)authority revealed today.

LibDem MP for Orkney and Shetland Alistair Carmichael claimed the second-highest bill of £82,878 which included over £45,000 in travel costs and £10,330 in accommodation bills.

At number three was Morecambe and Lunesdale MP David Morris (Conservative) who claimed almost £76,000 for the year including £23,702 in accommodation bills and £22,360 in travel bills.
