Pamela is local Vet Nurse of the Year

Pamela was selected to receive the prestigious award after being heartily nominated by a variety of clients and colleagues.

In the positively glowing nomination entries for Pamela, her sense of humour, compassion, consistent hard work and dedication were mentioned time and time again.

One client described how Pamela’s “gentle sense of humour” helped her through the ordeal of when her cat broke its leg and also her calm and confident manner when a particularly feisty patient needed attention! Her colleagues describe her as “cheerful, confident, fully committed and an excellent communicator”.

A colleague simply states that she is “one of the best!”.

Knockanboy Veterinary Practice provides care for both pets and farm animals and although Pamela is primarily a small animal vet nurse, she is also a trained artificial insemination (AI) technician for sheep. This side of Pamela’s work sees her heavily involved in pioneering reproductive sheep medicine and requires considerable skill and expertise.

Pamela says; “It’s a great privilege to be given this award and I am very humbled by the kind and thoughtful words used to describe me”.

This year, some great nominations resulted in a tough task for BVNA judges deciding on the winners in each of the four categories. The event, supported by Hill’s Pet Nutrition is now in its fifth year and was initiated to help veterinary nurses receive wider recognition of their work. The quality of the nominations reflects growing appreciation of the tremendous efforts nurses put into caring for their patients and animals in the wider community. Ultimately though, it was Pamela who came out on top, making her a colleague and community member to be very proud of. Well done Pamela and keep up the good work!
