Martin Moran (61), Lagan Close, Aghagallon, admitted, through his solicitor, five motoring offences which happened on May 29 this year.

Fines of £50 and a one month disqualification were imposed on each charge of not having a test certificate, failing to report an accident, failing to remain, driving without due care and attention and not having a licence.

The court heard that police received a complaint that a car door had been damaged in a car park on the main street in Aghagallon.

The injured party went to exchange details with the other driver but he left the scene.

Details of the car were given to police who called with Moran. He accepted the offence and said he had panicked. He had no valid licence or test certificate.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said his client had allowed his licence to expire and accepted his standard of driving fell below the required level. He panicked and just drove off.

He added that Moran lived in quite a remote area and lived with his mother who would depend on him to get into town.
