Parades during May which may interrupt traffic flow

The Apprentice Boys of Derry (ABOD) will stage two parades during the month. The first of which is on this Saturday, May 7.

It is being hosted by the members of the Browning Club and their parade will get underway at 11am.

It will follow an outward route along Rossdowney Park, onto Dungiven Road, along Glendermott Road and into Clooney Terrace, along Spencer Road where the parade will pass over Craigavon Bridge into Carlisle Road, travelling along Ferryquay Street into The Diamond and down Shipquay Street into Shipquay Place, ending at 11.50am.

The return parade, at 12pm will take place along Shipquay Place, Shipquay Street, The Diamond, Bishop Street, Palace Street and Society Street. There is one band, Star of the Roe and there are 200 expected participants.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, May 12, a parade organised by the ABOD Walker Parent Club, will take place at 11am.

The procession will travel along Glendermott Road, Clooney Terrace, Spencer Road, Craigavon Bridge, Carlisle Road, Ferryquay Street, The Diamond, Bishop Street, Palace Street, will then perform a circuit of the City Walls and Society Street. The outward parade will end at 12.30pm.

Two bands, namely Churchill Flute Band and Ballynafeigh Apprentice Boys Flute Band, will be taking
 part.

The organisers say around 150 participants are expected.
