Parish Fair

Hillsborough will be ready and waiting for an influx of visitors and children to the bi annual Hillsborough Parish Church St Malachy’s Summer Fair which will be held on Saturday May 31, starting at 10.30am.

The Fair is held every two years and the theme for this years event is a vintage village extravaganza with as much bunting, old time lawn games, cream teas and candy floss as Hillsborough Parish organisers can muster.

There will be an adult Tug of War competition starring at 11.15am and there will also be the Great Hillsborough Bake Off which is open to various age groups with judging at 1.15pm.

Judging for the childrens’ fancy dress competitions starts at 12.30 and will conclude with a grand parade up and down the hill.

There will be a fantastic array of stalls to browse through ranging from crafts, gifts, fine foods and fashions as well as the plant stall, tombola and traditional summer fair stalwarts.

If you want to take a break from the games and fun to feast on cream teas, sit down lunches in the Downshire Centre or grab a burger at the all day BBQ stand.

And as 2014 is the 100 year centenary of the start of World War 1, The famous Hillsborough Old Guard will be on guard throughout the day and showing off their WW1 Exhibition.
