An average of 90 runners take part in the five kilometre run each week.

A team of nine volunteers set up and check the course, organise the marshals’ rota, publicise the event, manage the timings and publish the results every Saturday morning.

The best attendance was 166 runners and the average run time was just under 30 minutes with a total distance of 68,650 kms covered.

Mid and East Antrim Mayor Councillor Audrey Wales said: “The anniversary event will allow us to thank the volunteers and all those who get up every week and ‘get active’ through the park run.

“This is an event for all ages that is free of charge.”

After the awards, a run will take place through parklands adjacent to Carrickfergus Amphitheatre.
