DUP MLA Carla Lockhart and Councillor Mark Baxter say that with a growing population and expansion in the area the need for more car parking has become more prevalent.

The work has already started on the project in conjunction with a new bus shelter being provided for pick up of the school children rather than a pick up at the main road.

Welcoming the works the DUP pair jointly said, “This is great news for the area and particularly good news for parents.

“The provision of extra parking in Ballygunaghan has been a long hard fought campaign and we are delighted to see the commencement of the work.

“In addition to the agreed parking works a bus shelter has been secured at this location.

“The school buses will collect and drop of the children at this point rather than the main road which takes away some of the danger not just to the children but also to other motorist who had to navigate round the stationary bus.

“It is good that the Council and Education Authority listened and acted and we want to applaud them for this.

“We will be continuing to work with the community in Blackskull to help grow the services available to the local residents.

“As Blackskull grows in size it is imperative that investment in infrastructure and services grow also.

“The works will be ongoing over the coming weeks and should anyone have any concerns or issues we are happy to assist.”
