Parkinson’s branch meets next week

The Lisburn branch of Parkinson’s UK meets the third Monday of every month, with the next meeting on September 16 in the Assembly Hall, Graham Gardens at 2.30pm.

The guest speaker will be Jimmy Hughes talking about consumer rights.

The Lisburn branch offers a wide range of services to its members including physiotherapy, speech therapy, podiatry and counselling services. In addition, various social activities are organised throughout the year.

In recent years the branch has contributed over £45,000 to various research projects aimed at finding a cure for Parkinson’s.

The most recent donation was made in March when £10,000 was donated to the University of Cambridge for a project entitled ‘The development of Parkinson’s in the Brain: Understanding the causes’.

A donation of £1,000 was made to the new neurological respite unit at Musgrave Park Hospital.
