Parkinson’s UK coffee morning

Parkinson’s Awareness Week takes place next week when the local Parkinson’s UK branch will be hosting its monthly meeting on 20 April at 2.30pm in the Assembly Hall, Graham Gardens, Lisburn and a Coffee Morning at Sainsburys on Thursday 23 April commencing at 10.30am.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition caused by a lack of dopamine production in the brain.

Parkinson’s UK is the only charity in this country which provides services, help and advice to the vicitims of Parkinson’s but many of the 3,500 sufferers in NI still do not know that such a body exists.

There is, as yet, no known cure for Parkinson’s but research into the condition is funded by Parkinson’s UK and the local Lisburn branch has contributed significantly to this having donated almost £100,000 to various research projects in the last nine years.
