Alan Griffin (21), Meadowbrook, Craigavon, was fined £200, with a £15 offender’s levy, last Friday at the local court for interfering in a dangerous manner with a motor vehicle on December 1 last year.

The court heard that the defendant pulled on the handbrake as the vehicle was in the process of turning into the Meadowbrook estate. The vehicle collided with a lamp post and there was damage to the front and side of the car.

A solicitor for Griffin said it was an incident
fuelled by alcohol and there was no excuse for his behaviour.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said this was ‘outrageous foolishness’ and the defendant, as a driver himself, should have been aware of the effect of what he did.
