Passports

ALMOST 30,000 people living in the Irish Republic applied for a British passport between 2008 and 2010.

DUP MP Gregory Campbell asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people who applied to the British embassy in Dublin for a UK passport between 2008 and 2010 gave a current address in the Irish Republic.

Minister of State Damian Green replied: “Between 2008 and 2010 the Passport Section at the British embassy produced 27,967 passports.

“Applicants with a current address in the Irish Republic must apply to the British embassy in Dublin.”
