PCSP meeting call follows burglaries

A former Mayor of Lisburn has called for a special public meeting of the PCSP in Magheragall after a spate of burglaries.

Alderman William Leathem says a meeting must take place as people in Maghaeragall are distressed following recent events.

“I was saddened to hear that local friends and neighbours have either been burgled or experienced an attempted burglary in recent weeks,” said Alderman Leathem.

“I am disgusted that there are some individuals in our community who think it is acceptable to steal from others.

“To date items that have been stolen include: money, jewellery, sheep, garden machinery including chain saws and even diesel from tractors.

“You can see from the variety of items being stolen that the thieves are not choosy about what they liberate from others to sell on for cash.”

He continued: “In response to these thefts in my electoral area I have approached the Lisburn PCSP to ask for a special meeting to be held in Magheragall to address the concerns of residents.

“I am delighted that the PCSP Chairman and the Area Commander are supportive of this idea.”
