PCSP pays out for Halloween diversion

Partnership has presented 14 community groups from across the city with ‘Halloween Diversionary’ funding.

The main aim of the funding is to support local community groups in organising events for young people around the Halloween period with the hope of reducing crime and anti-social behaviour.

Lisburn PCSP chairman Councillor Stephen Magennis, said: “Although Halloween for most people is a time for fun, with children dressing up and ‘trick or treating’, for some it can be a fraught and fearful time due to some people using the opportunity to cause criminal damage and take part in anti-social behaviour.

“This is the first time Lisburn PCSP has granted funding to local community groups to try to alleviate any such activity over the Halloween period.

“The funds Lisburn PCSP has allocated will go right to the heart of local communities and will allow a number of diversionary activities to take place.”

The local community groups who were successful with the funding met at Lagan Valley Island on Friday October 4 to engage with members of Lisburn PCSP and the local Neighbourhood Policing Team to discuss their plans for the diversionary programme of activities.
