Peace in the Park fun day

A thought provoking tour of the Western Front battlefields has prompted community groups in Ballymena to come together to organise a ‘Peace in the Park’ festival.

The family fun day will take place in the People’s Park, on August 6 from 1pm to 5pm.

A host of artists will be making an appearance with the ever popular Chevys topping the bill. Local group Bar Room Buddies will also be making a guest appearance.

Carrickfergus Brass band will open the day with mood setting music, followed by local dance sensations Irish Jump Style.. DJ Paul Dempster will keep things moving with the latest hits and perhaps a few golden oldies. Party King will provide a host of fun activities for the children and the not so young.

Face painters, balloon modellers and a wide range of other activities will also be present.

Dunclug Partnership under whose umbrella funding was secured are grateful to Ballymena Borough Council, Awards for All Big Lottery and the Community Relations Council for funding to enable them to put on such a spectacular show.

The idea for the day was formulated by a group who were all involved in the Messines experience which takes people from Northern Ieland to the sites of some of the worst battles of the First World War. The groups included Harryville Partnership, Ballykeel Residents Association, Hope Centre, All Saints Parish Centre, Dunclug Partnership and staff from Ballymena Borough Council.
