Peace window

THE last of the stained glass windows, made under the Windows of Hope is project, is this week on its way to Madrid where it will be unveiled later in the month at a special ceremony during an international conference being hosted by the EU Network of Victims of Violence.

Made by Alpha Stained Glass, at Castle Street in the city, the window’s design was overseen by Brigid Murray, who acted as a facilitator and involved ideas and themes identified during workshops with families bereaved by terrorism in Claudy, Omagh, Buncrana and Madrid. The unveiling will be a central plank of the calendar of events by the NAVT.

Among those travelling to take part in the conference is Jeanette Warke, who will be meeting up with members of the Omagh Self-Help Group in Madrid.

Commentingon her forthcoming visit, Jeanette said: “I am travelling as a representative of the families who have taken part in the design of the windows and I feel very honoured and very humbled to carry out this civic duty.”

The window will be unveiled on June 27.
