Pensioner had faced festive freeze

The PUP have come to the aid of an elderly Hoophill Park resident who faced Christmas without heat, according to the party.

PUP spokesperson Aaron Dowey said: “We are delighted that following significant engagement with the Housing Executive’s maintenance team, they have now replaced the faulty boiler for an elderly resident in Hoophill Park.

“The resident had initially been told it could be after Christmas before the problem was fixed and this left the elderly resident in some distress. However, following our intervention on their behalf, the resident is now content and able to heat their own home.

He continued: “It was concerning that the Housing Executive considered leaving a vulnerable resident in this position during the holiday period and what has been a particularly cold spell.”
